Ive had many GSP over the years, 1 of mine ive had for two+ years now. I began out with 2 ~two inch GSP in a ten gallon and they were fine for over a year (with weekly water changes and an ammonia/nitrate detoxifier). I now only have 1 GSP in a 20 gallon tank with six tigar barbs, five neon tetras, two algae eaters and a quarry and they are all fine collectively. The tick is getting tank mates that are quick and at least semi aggressive. My puff tries to catch them but he cant, since their just as quickly and has given up chasing them more than time. BTW I have had mine in only fresh water for 2+ years, i will be switching to brackish water sooner or later, I was kinda hopping he’d kill my fresh water fish so I could do it sooner but I will be playing the waiting game now. Really effortless to keep, have gone over a week without feeding and he was fine.
