Training your puppy to obey his master will be one of the best things that you can do for him, let alone for you and the family. A pet’s natural desire is to be at his master’s command so you are also fulfilling one of his instinctive tendencies when you effectively train him to obey you. One great way of accomplishing this might be to take him to puppy obedience lessons between the ages of 4 and 16 weeks when they have the highest capacity to learn.
Sociable Setting
Dog education classes welcome individuals from all walks of existence including all varieties of breeds and cross-breeds. This is not just an excellent opportunity for you to meet people but, more importantly, it’s a good opportunity for your dog to meet others. This will be much easier with a puppy but it can also profit older dogs that might not have had this opportunity in the past.
Dogs need to be social with others because they are historically a “pack animal”. It will be very much easier to socialize them in classes at an early age than it could be to try and correct or fix complications that arise later.
Commands
Although some behavior classes are designed to teach dogs to perform well in shows, the majority are about training common sense and useful commands. As an example, in a class you are typically going to commonly discover the way to teach your dog to sit, to stay and to fetch. From there you can both discover more advanced tricks such as rolling over on command, shaking hands and more.
Practicalities
There’s a lot of puppy education schools to choose from. The top way to find a good school could be from word of mouth. If you don’t know anyone who has had a positive experience then you will have to use your criteria and check-in person.
When you visit a school to make inquiries, ask them how many pups are in each class (ideally no more than 10), how many instructors are there (ideally approximately one for every 3 pups) and if the venue is disinfected after each lesson. If you can, try
to sit in on an acting class before deciding whether to sign up. If you’re not confident about all details then trust your instincts and look elsewhere.
